6 Year Own Saves His Own Family,Extreme Water Slide And More !

6 Year Old Saves His Own Family

When 6-year-old Brevin Hunter heard the tornado siren begin to wail out its warnings, he knew exactly what to do: Put his video game down and head to the basement.

More challenging was convincing his family that he was right.

"Please, Mom. This is what they teach us in school. When you hear the siren, you need to go somewhere safe," Brevin told his mom, Lisa, according to the Chicago Tribune.  But when Lisa Hunter looked outside, she saw that the skies looked calm. She thought it was a drill.
Fortunately Brevin kept on bugging, and mom eventually listened. She, Brevin, 11-year-old Brody and an aunt went down to the basement with a futon mattress to play it safe. Roughly 10 minutes later, the tornado hit the family's home.

In the tornado's aftermath, Lisa Hunter praised her son for saving their lives. "There's no way I would have gone if he hadn't kept nagging me," she  told the Chicago Tribune.

The family is staying at an emergency shelter at the Crossroads Methodist Church in Washington, Ill.
Lucinda Gresham, a nurse volunteering at the church, praised Brevin's actions. "They are alive today because of that boy," she told the Chicago Tribune.

The Weather Channel has reported that the tornado that hit Washington is believed to have had winds between 166 and 200 miles per hour.

Brevin will be honored for his quick thinking by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, according to WGN.
Extreme Water Slide
Schlitterbahn is world famous for its innovative water parks. The flag ship location in New Braunfels, Texas made headlines last decade when it unveiled the “Master Blaster,” the world’s first uphill water coaster.
But Schlitterbahn’s latest project may be its most ambitious yet. The Verrückt, which appropriately enough means “insane,” is a 17-story water slide that designer Jeff Henry promises will be the tallest, fastest and steepest water slide in the world.
“This new Meg-A-Blaster speed slide is going to wow our guests and is going to be a game changer for our industry,” Henry said in a statement. “Our greatest challenge will be to find thrill seekers brave enough to ride.”
The Verrückt is scheduled to open to the public at Schlitterbahn’s Kansas City location in May, 2014.
Henry won't specify exactly how tall, or how fast, the slide will be until it's officially completed. But he has promised it will be taller than the current record holder, Brazil’s "Insano.” That slide is more than 14 stories tall and reportedly carries riders at more than 60 miles per hour.
Assuming the Verrückt goes at least as fast, it would technically mean that riders on the slide would be exceeding the speed limit imposed on Kansas City drivers.
Verrückt will be different from the Insano in at least one other major detail: riders will travel on the slide in a four-person raft. Along with the shared experience of terror/delight, the raft will hopefully keep riders from experiencing any unpleasant skin burns during their rapid descent.

No Live-Stream Till 2014
One of the defining features of both next-gen consoles is their ability to stream live gameplay. Although Sony has had issues with several elements of the PlayStation 4 launch, Twitch and Ustream have been running smoothly right out of the box. This isn’t going to be the case for the Xbox One, however. Microsoft’s latest post on the Xbox Wire states that “[Twitch streaming] won’t be available right away” but the team will be looking to “deliver it during the first part of 2014.” Instead, Xbox Live Gold members will be limited to viewing broadcasts until Xbox One streaming is ready for primetime.
Microsoft has tried to balance out this piece of bad news with some details of the Xbox One’s exclusive Twitch features. First up is Snap mode, which allows you to watch a live gameplay stream on one side of the screen while playing games, watching TV or using an entertainment app on the other. Instant switch is another unique feature that gives you the ability to say “Xbox, go to Twitch” out loud to the Kinect sensor to quickly access the app. Microsoft is even offering 10 achievements for watching streams over the Twitch app, but you’ll have to watch a lot of gaming if you want to add those points to your profile.
Streaming has become a phenomenon that stretches beyond the hardcore gaming crowd, and hundreds if not thousands of gamers are giving it a try for the first time with the release of the PlayStation 4. Microsoft is missing out on the uninitiated streamers by failing to prepare Twitch for launch, but it’s just as important that the app works as advertised before it’s released on the Xbox One.
PlayStation 4's Direct Hit
In its first 24 hours of availability, the PlayStation 4 sold more than 1 million units in North America. That's nearly five times the number of PlayStation 3 units the company sold in that system's first two weeks on shelves.
"PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal," said Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. "Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support."
The fast adoption by consumers makes the PS4 Sony's fastest selling console, even topping the initial numbers of the PlayStation 2 in Japan.
It's a far cry from the early days of the PS3. It took more than a month-and-a-half for the company to ship 1 million units to its retail partners in 2006. And sales of the system in its first two weeks came in at just 197,000 units, according to The NPD Group, far short of the company's goal of 400,000
Parts shortages at the time were the chief reason for the PS3's early sales shortages, though the system's high price tag was also cited.
Sony will have a chance to further increase the PS4's sales totals in two weeks, when the system hits the U.K. and Europe on November 29. Demand is just as strong in that region, with Amazon telling U.K. customers that any orders at this point will arrive after Christmas.
Japan will get the system next February.
Sony has been very optimistic about the sales prospects for the PS4. Last week, SCEA president Jack Tretton predicted the company would sell 3 million PS4s by the end of the year. By the end of next March, Sony expects sales to top 5 million.
The launch isn't entirely smooth, though. Sony began investigating reports of hardware failure even before the PS4 hit shelves - and while the company says fewer than 1 percent of the units were affected, customer reviews on Amazon.com are full of complaints for people saying their system has died. Nearly 500 of the 1,600 customer reviews rank the system at one star.
But,there's a problem.The 'Blue Ring Of Death'.
If stories about hardware failures are scaring you away from buying a PlayStation 4, don’t worry too much. There’s a 99% chance that you’ll be OK. Per The Washington Post, Sony on Tuesday addressed reports of early hardware problems with the PS4 and said that only 1% of consoles are experiencing the “blue light of death” failure where “users are seeing the console’s blue light illuminate to indicate the device is powered on, but still face blank television screens.” Xbox 360 gamers know what it’s like to live under the constant fear of a hardware failure after early versions of the console were plagued by the “red ring of death” that became a major public relations headache for Microsoft. Sony is insisting that any PS4 hardware problems are isolated, however, and that gamers shouldn’t panic.
48 Years Later
The jugglers and the clowns are out in full force for this one. It's probably not exactly what Bob Dylan was envisioning when he penned "Like a Rolling Stone" lo so many decades ago, but it's a pretty terrific tribute to the folk-rock classic directed by YouTube hero Vania Heymann. You can flip through several stations featuring the likes of Marc Maron, Drew Carey, Danny Brown and the Pawn Starssynced masterfully with the track. The video commemorates the recent release of the 47-disc set The Complete Album Collection, Vol. 1.
Why Bill Goldberg Should Not Be In WrestleMania 30
The former WWE and WCW champion has been rumored for a return to the WWE for years and the rumors usually start each year around this time. But while Hogan is a must have at WrestleMania, Goldberg has no business stepping foot in the ring next April.
One of the most popular names coming out of the wrestling boom in the late 90s, Goldberg is a recognizable name in the wrestling industry. Despite his name recognition, Goldberg's only run in the WWE was a colossal failure for many reasons, not all of which are his fault.
Still, the majority of Goldberg's successes are based in WCW and while the WWE isn't shy about honoring the legacy of WCW, Goldberg isn't deserving of having a spot at WrestleMania.
For one he is a guy who made a lot of money, thanks to fans getting behind him and supporting him early on in WCW only to bail on them. When WWE purchased WCW, Goldberg sat on the sidelines and collected a check instead of coming in and being a part of the failed WCW invasion.
After finally coming to the WWE in 2003, Goldberg spent one year with the company before he left again and hasn't returned since. Over the years he's hinted at possibly returning to the ring one day, but only for the right price.
Simply put, Goldberg wouldn't be coming back because he loves wrestling or his fans; he would be coming back for the money associated with being at WrestleMania. I get that it's a business, but Goldberg has never been about entertaining the fans and I have hard time believing a guy who hasn't wrestled a major program in almost a decade is going to be worth the money he thinks he's worth.
Goldberg was never a solid wrestler to begin with as he basically did six or seven moves and that was it. Fans who tune in to WrestleMania and drop $70 on a pay-per-view want more than a guy who will be in the ring for less than 10 minutes before hitting the showers. Say what you want about John Cena and his alleged "fives moves of doom," but at least he can go for 25 minutes plus if needed.
But even if he did decide to work at Mania, there is only one guy on the roster it makes sense to have face him and that is Ryback. Sure the similarities are there and Ryback has dealt with the comparisons since his debut, but can you imagine how awful that match would be? Not to mention Ryback has spent the better part of the last year losing to everyone on the roster not named Zack Ryder.
It would be hard to believe that Ryback who has become a middle of the road name is on a level even close enough to warrant a match with Goldberg. Some fans have said Goldberg facing The Undertaker would be of interest, but again, I don't think the match would be very good and obviously Taker would be winning that match which ruins the impact of Goldberg's return.
Finally, the WWE needs to start looking towards the future and turning some of the guys on the roster into stars and launching their careers at Mania. Giving another top spot and large payday to a guy who won't be around after April is insanity. Last year four of the six top spots at Mania were given to guys who've wrestled less than 5 matches this year.
Doing so again would continue to kill the product as fans get the idea in their head that they only have to tune in eight or nine times a year to see the "stars" because the other talent on the roster never gets a chance to shine on the brightest stages. For a company that runs three TV shows a week and 13 PPVs a year, they need to invest in the lesser-known talent and bringing in Goldberg defeats that idea.
Goldberg was a phenomenal success in his day, there is no doubt about that. But WrestleMania is a special event where the the most deserving of wrestlers get their chance to shine and make names for themselves. Goldberg hasn't been a factor in pro wrestling for decade and if the WWE is smart, it'll stay that way.

Marcia Wallace,Megan Fox And More

We'll Really Miss You Marcia Wallace

Sunday's new "Simpsons" episode began with a pair of tributes to Marcia Wallace, who voiced long-suffering teacher Edna Krabappel and passed away last week at the age of 70.
Bart scrawled a poignant "We'll really miss you Mrs. K" on his chalkboard, and the episode also had an "in memoriam" card for Edna before the credits, featuring her trademark laugh.
As tributes go, the blackboard gag and the tribute card are wonderful remembrances of one of the most enduring "Simpsons" characters and the amazing woman who voiced her.
Plus, Fox honored Wallace (and Mrs. Krabappel) by re-airing a special Edna-centric episode before last night's new episode: 2011's "The Ned-Liest Catch," where Edna falls in love with Ned Flanders.
“The Ned-Liest Catch,” for those who don't remember (there's no shame in it; plenty of “Simpsons” die-hards have been known to miss an episode or two, or sometimes entire seasons), was the last episode of Season 22. Bart's antics cause Edna to be sent to a “holding facility” where, during her escape, she literally falls into the arms of Ned Flanders.
A romance blossoms, but Ned grows uncomfortable when he finds out how many men she's been with. (Even Joey Kramer, the drummer for Aerosmith, has spent time with Edna. He makes a guest appearance as himself in the episode, calling back a joke made back in Season 3.)
In typical Ned fashion, he timidly approaches the question of exactly how many men. “I was just wondering how many boxes of staples I should order for the store. Does 10 sound like a lot to you? 20? 50? What does sound like a lot to you?”
The real joy of the episode is that, rather than being ashamed of her liaisons, Edna's proud of them (well, maybe not Comic Book Guy), and she stands up to Ned's disapproval. In the end, the producers left it up to an Internet vote to determine whether or not they stayed together. The next season's opener revealed that, in fact, they married in secret (which, again, you can be forgiven for not knowing).
The character of Edna Krabappel will be retired, but Wallace had already voiced the entirety of next season's episodes, so we'll get to spend a little more time with her before she disappears into syndication completely.
I'm a HUGE fan for "The Simpsons",so the news make my heart break.
R.I.P Marcia Wallace. We'll miss you.
What The Hell Are You Doing Here,Megan Fox ?
f you caught the “Call of Duty: Ghosts” trailer during Sunday’s “Walking Dead,” you probably found yourself wondering: What’s Megan Fox doing here?
The “Transformers” actress makes a brief cameo at the end of the trailer, released in anticipation of the game’s debut Monday. After a quarter of dudes shoot things up in a burned-out Vegas, Fox saves one of them from a hovering drone.
Activision tells TheWrap she isn’t actually in the game. So why was she in the trailer?
Trying to drum up interest, silly. And it worked. The same dudes who like “Call of Duty” also like Megan Fox. And she’s had plenty of practice playing a video game character, having already starred in two “Transformers” movies.
The trailer has been viewed more than 4.2 million times since it debuted Saturday. Fox was Yahoo’s most searched subject Monday, though sporty Google users made the New England Patriots their top search term. (They play in Foxboro, Mass.)
According to the social media analysis tool ForSight, Fox was mentioned in 23 percent of social media chatter about the trailer — according to a Yahoo story about all the social media chatter about the trailer.
And oh look — you’re reading a story noting that story. Seems like this “use Megan Fox to get their attention” thing worked.

Well,Eminem was appeared in the multiplayer trailer with his new song,Survival.
This Kid Is Coming To U.S.
The Wii may be winding down its life cycle, but the Wii Mini is just getting started.
Roughly a year after introducing the scaled-down version of the last generation console to Canada, Nintendo has announced plans to bring the Wii Mini to the U.S. in the coming weeks. Nintendo declined to give an exact release date, saying only "mid-November."
It's hard to argue with the value proposition -- assuming you don't already own a Wii. The Wii Mini will cost just $100 and comes bundled with Mario Kart Wii.
"Wii Mini offers the same fun experience as Wii, which has been enjoyed by millions of people around the world," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "It is an extraordinary value for shoppers this holiday season."
It does come with some drawbacks, though, the biggest of which is the system's lack of Internet connectivity. While the Wii was never an online gaming powerhouse, its users are big fans of streaming services like Netflix. The Wii Mini effectively removes that option. The system is also not backwards compatible with GameCube titles, though that's likely less to be an issue for most potential buyers at this point.
The bigger question is why Nintendo is promoting a new version of its old hardware when its next-generation system is struggling so desperately.
Between the end of March and end of September this year, Nintendo sold just 460,000 Wii U consoles. The seven-year old Wii, meanwhile, sold 470,000 in that same time frame. Nintendo's hoping a September price cut and new games -- including Super Mario 3D World -- will help boost the Wii U this holiday.
Reducing the size of existing consoles is an old, but effective trick in the video game industry that can bring in extra revenue. Sony introduced a "super slim" PlayStation 3 in September 2012, and Microsoft's revamp of the Xbox 360 into a slimmer form factor in 2010 led console hardware sales for 20 consecutive months.

Help You To Work Harder,Top Shot For "Ender's Game" And More .....

Music Helps You To Work Harder

Music helps us get through hard, physical work. Think of the songs produced by soldiers marching or chain gangs building railroads.
But does simply hearing the music account for the effect? Or is there a bigger boost when the workers themselves make the music?
To find out, scientists had subjects exercise on a fitness machine under two conditions. In one trial, the volunteers just listened to music. In the second run, the machines were rigged to start playing music only when the participant began to move. And the pace at which the subject exercised determined the speed of the music.
Measurements of the participants’ oxygen intake and muscle tension showed that they actually expended less energy when they controlled the music. The participants also rated their perceived level of exertion as being lower when their actions dictated the sound. The study is in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
So next time you’re working the elliptical at the gym, perhaps make your own music. You could simply sing along to whatever’s playing on the loudspeakers. Unless it’s Blurred Lines. Work it. Don’t twerk it.

Top Shot For "Ender's Game"
Despite months of mixed buzz, little star power outside of Harrison Ford in a supporting role, and controversy of author Orson Scott Card’s anti-gay (and vaguely racist) political views, Lionsgate’s Ender’s Game debuted with solid opening day numbers.  Mostly financed by OddLot, the $110 million adaptation of Card’s acclaimed and much-celebrated sci-fi novel from 1985 earned a decent $9 million on its first Friday.  That’s over/under what The Host ($10.6m),Beautiful Creatures ($7.5m), and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones($9.3m) earned over their entire respective Fri-Sun debut weekends.
Barring massive front-loading and/or a crash-and-burn over the next few weeks, this should somewhat reverse the trend of failing young adult fantasy literary adaptations post-Hunger Games. Presuming a somewhat anticipated but not horribly front loaded debut weekend (think 2.75x), expect an opening weekend of just over/under $27 million. So it’s playing like Eragon and The Golden Compass thus far (around $28m debut/$70-$75m domestic finish), for better or worse.
The next new wide release is CBS  Film’s Last Vegas. The Sin City-set comedy centers around four old friends who reunite in Vegas for one last bachelor party and it stars Robert De Niro, Kevin Kline, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, and Mary Steenburgen. The film wisely cost just $28 million to produce, so its $5.1 million opening day, setting the stage for a $14 million debut weekend, will lead to easy profitability, as the film’s target older audience checks out the film when they find it convenient rather than rushing out on opening weekend.
Street Art Take Over
Libreville (AFP) - Fed up with the overpowering stench of urine in Libreville's streets, artist Regis Divassa decided to take action -- by spray-painting over soiled walls in a bid to get the Gabonese capital's residents to keep their city clean.
"Gabonese men have a great habit, once they drink too much, they spray the walls," said the 34-year-old artist.
Not only are hidden street corners used as make-shift toilets, even walls of residential homes are hit.
If it is understandable to go behind a tree in a rural setting where it might be hard to find a toilet, in Libreville, an urban city of about half a million people, the habit is causing anguish among residents.
Eugenie Assoumou Mengue knows what it is like to live in a house which has walls that are regularly sprayed.
"We're suffering, it's hellish. People come and urinate here and we get the smells that make us really sick," she said, indicating an area on her walls where cement was flaking off.
Divassa, an artist, cinema set designer and rap artist, has teamed up with his partner "Blatino" to target areas in Libreville that are thick with filth, spraying slogans or full-fledged frescoes to get people to stop think twice.
"Graffiti is like a picture. If people see something beautiful on the wall, they won't come and pee against it," said Divassa. "Street art is something young people appreciate."
For Divassa, street art is a political act, a kind of rebellion that can serve to raise public awareness about not just the toilet issue, but also the general filth problem plaguing Libreville.
Besides the struggle to get people to use toilets, uncleared waste has also become a bugbear for Libreville's citizens and regularly hits the national headlines.
In nearly every neighbourhood in the city, piles of rubbish can be seen rising metres high up near bins that no one empties, stewing under suffocating heat and emitting putrid smells.
The rubbish "even holds up the traffic because it overflows onto the road and cars can't get past," said one shoe seller from his tiny shop.
"The town hall has to do something," he said. Each month he pays a cleanliness tax of 24,000 FCFA ($50) "without knowing what it's for."
Another shopkeeper who came to greet Regis said he was disgusted by the rubbish lining the streets outside his food store.
"We can't breathe anymore. The bins are never emptied and with heavy rainfall it overflows through the whole city and makes people sick."
Libreville's unpopular mayor Jean-Francois Ntoutoume Emane, who will not run again in the November elections, is facing widespread criticism and blamed for not honouring his engagements with the organisation responsible for collecting household waste.
Responding recently to questions from deputies and senators, the mayor acknowledged that the rubbish issue is a recurring one, but he refused to shoulder the blame.
Faced with political inaction, Divassa hopes that his street art around the city will help raise public awareness and help to turn the situation around.
"All this is the state's fault. But who is the state? The state is you and me. The state is us."

What's New In COD:G

Arriving November 5 for current consoles and PCs (it’s a launch day release for both the PS4 and Xbox One), Call of Duty: Ghosts is expected to be one of the year’s biggest earners. But you knew that already.
For the past several years, Call of Duty releases have dominated charts while repeatedly breaking their own sales records. That might not come quite as easily this year thanks to the epic performance of Grand Theft Auto V, but it’s a given that Call of Duty: Ghosts will put up one helluva fight.
So what’s new in this year’s model? Here are five things coming to Ghosts that you’ve yet to see in a Call of Duty game.

Riley (Credit: Activision)
Cats might rule the internet, but one very special dog rules Call of Duty: Ghosts. His name is Riley, and he was a star from the moment Activision first showed off the game.
Bred to assist players in both solo and multiplayer, the German Shepherd carries an assortment of tactical help, including a back-mounted camera and large, pointy teeth. He’s true to life, too, built using the same motion-capture tech as his human companions, though we’re not sure any of them are brave enough to leap onto a helicopter and bite the pilot, as Riley did in one of the game’s more memorable trailers.
Of course, having a high-profile dog in a game about shooting things begs the question: will Riley survive the tale? Developer Infinity Ward isn’t saying, but with nearly 30,000 Twitter followers, Riley’s legion of fans would never let them hear the end of it if the pooch perished.
Out with the dead, in with the aliens
Burnt out on the undead? So is Infinity Ward, who decided to jettison Call of Duty’s long-running Zombies mode in favor of something a little more…foreign.
That would be the game’s new Extinction mode, which tasks teams of four to defend a base against hordes of bug-like alien invaders. Though the core gameplay looks pretty similar to Zombies, it adds flavor with unlockable classes, scavenging for items, team-based skill points, and power-ups specific to Extinction. A little bit of Halo in your Call of Duty, perhaps?
Answer the call, on the go
Second-screen gaming is all the rage these days, but like pretty much everything else with Call of Duty, Ghosts goes bigger than most with its off-screen antics. The Call of Duty app for phones and tablets ties into Ghosts in all sorts of ways, from obvious extensions like the ability to track stats and gameplay history to more functional bits like customizing loadouts before and during matches.
It also enables cross-platform clans -- another first for the franchise -- which essentially lets players join the same clan even if they’re on different gaming systems. A new ‘Clan Wars’ game mode even lets you fight other clans through the app, which also nets XP for the main game.

Ten years after the first game in the series launched, Call of Duty is finally breaching the gender gap.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is the first game in the franchise to feature full soldier customization, letting players tweak every aspect of their virtual hero’s look – including gender. It’s an issue that’s dogged the series for years, though Infinity Ward insists it comes down to technology. Past games didn’t feature any player customization due to the sheer scope of its multiplayer. Once the tech enabled customization, they say, gender was an obvious addition.
“Our fan base is huge,” executive producer Mark Rubin told Kotaku back in August. “We cover such a dramatic range of people who play our game that we wanted to be as inclusive as we possibly could with character customization. And that's where the idea came from. Why wouldn't we have a female [option] then?"
Squads
If playing solo isn’t your thing and getting torched in multiplayer is proving a drag, you can opt for Ghosts’ third mode of play: Squads.
Players can customize AI-controlled squads of up to five soldiers, then hop into a variety of competitive, cooperative, and survival match types against other players and their squads. Your customized squad can even fight for you -- and earn XP -- when you’re offline. Best of all, any XP you gain in Squad mode goes towards your multiplayer rank, which could prove to be a smoother entry point for gamers intimidated by online play.

Special Halloween Article

Haunted Ship

On November 7, 1872, a merchant ship named “Mary Celeste” with ten people aboard set sail from New York City bound for Genoa, Italy. About a month later it would become famous…for becoming a ghost ship. A British brig spotted the “Mary Celeste” adrift in the Atlantic Ocean on December 5, 1872, about 400 miles east of the Azores. A search party investigated and found no one on board. Theories of what happened range from a crew revolt to a sea monster. Alternatively, the “Mary Celeste’s” captain may have thought the boat was leaking and ordered the crew to abandon ship near the Azores. Whatever happened, the crew was never seen again. The “Flying Dutchman” is another famous ghost ship, believed by some to have been a pirate ship cursed by the atrocities committed on board, and now forced to remain at sea forever. Others think the name refers to the ship’s captain, Willem van der Decken, whose reckless judgment led to its sinking off the Cape of Good Hope in the 17th Century. While some believe the “Flying Dutchman” never existed at all, many sailors have nevertheless reported seeing it. Some ghost ships are actually available for tourists to visit. The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California is rumored to be haunted. Room B340, where a passenger was once found dead in 1948, has a history of paranormal activity, including knocking sounds and mysterious running water in the bathroom. But there’s an upside to encountering the Queen Mary ghost: maybe he knows what happened to the crew of the “Mary Celeste.”

Coming Soon For Android

Here's To Oculus Rift Fans. One of the most exciting upcoming video game accessories is the Oculus Rift  virtual reality headset. The Oculus Rift has been hailed as the next evolution of gaming, and at the GamesBeat conference on Tuesday the company announced that it is working to create a mobile version of the Rift for Android devices as well. Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe said that the device will only work with Android devices for now, presumably because of the open source nature of Google’s mobile platform. Oculus VR hopes to release the mobile version of the hardware at around the same time as the PC headset, although an official retail release has still not been announced for either yet.

Best Nursery Theme

Jeffery Craddock's making sure his newborn daughter old-school gaming education starts early. Really early.

When Craddock and his wife Ashley welcomed their child into the world earlier this month, they chose a unique theme for their nursery: Mario. And they went all out with the decoration.

The lamp is a Bob-omb. Mario, Bowser, Peach, Yoshi and other characters adorn the walls. Mystery boxes are scattered throughout the room. Star pillows sit in the glide rocker.

After Jeffery posted pictures of the nursery online, they quickly went viral. Within days, they had found their way to Nintendo's headquarters -- and the company quickly posted them to its official Facebook page as well as its Twitter feed, further fueling the explosion.

You have to give the couple points for committing to the theme, too. Long before their daughter came into the world, Jeffery put together Nintendo-themed baby shower invitations in the form of what appears to be an SNES cartridge with Princess Peach on the cover.

The Craddocks' Mario themed room continues to raise the bar for gaming-themed parents. Earlier this year, one Florida Father rented out a movie theater, hooked up a few game systems to the projector and let his son play games for five hours. In March, developer Mike Mika hacked into Donkey Kong to make Pauline the hero of the game -- leaving Mario stuck high on the scaffolding with the angry simian -- when his daughter didn't understand why she couldn't play the princess.

And last November, Mike Hoye reworked The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker to change Link from a "He" to a "She" to make the game more accessible to his daughter.

Simpsons' Hobbit Spoof

"The Simpsons" couch gag is the stuff of TV comedy legend. And this Sunday, it takes on one of our most enduring tales as Homer & Co. skewer "The Hobbit." Yahoo TV sat down with "Simpsons" showrunner Al Jean about this week's installment, titled "The Couch Gag: Part One of Six," and the genius that is the show's opening.
Watch for Homer as Thorin Oakenshield, Marge as Gandalf with Bart, Lisa, and Maggie as hobbits on an unexpected journey to their couch through such far-flung lands as Springfield, Shelbyville ... and Funkytown. Along the way through fantastical lands, our intrepid quintet encounters a motley crew of monsters.
There's Gollum Moe learning why you shouldn't put a ring on it just because you like it; Troll Lenny, Troll Carl, and Troll Barney getting a last call courtesy of the sun; a racist elf hotel ; Burns as Smaug (which reminds us that Benedict Cumberbatch needs to come back and do more "Simpsons" guest voices tout de suite); and Jimbo, Kerny, and Dolph as specters guarding the ultimate prize.
Don't mistake any of those barbed jokes for disdain, though. "I'm going to see the next 'Hobbit' movie," Jean is quick to point out. "All love intended. But it sums up my feelings about the first one."

That follows last week's epic — and we do not use that term lightly — EPIC Halloween couch gag directed by horror master Guillermo del Toro ("Pan's Labyrinth," "Pacific Rim"). It was three minutes so dense with references that Yahoo Movies made its own decoder. And even that fell short, according to Jean: "I don't think they quite got everything, it's so intensive."

"It's great to find this piece of real estate on the show — the couch gag — where we can do this stuff after 25 years," Jean says. "It's really exciting to all of us." The show plans to continue mining the new/old ground with (among others surprises Jean was unwilling to divulge) a segment directed by returning animation legend Bill Plympton in January.

Moe as Gollum
There are a few fish too big for even "The Simpsons" to land, though. Studio Ghibli — the studio behind Japanese animated classics like "Spirited Away," "My Neighbor Totoro," and "Grave of the Fireflies" — was unable or didn't want to do it, so Jean and crew did it themselves. "We do a sort of homage to them also coming up in January, but that's us doing them... those movies [have] the most beautiful character design in the world."

The key to a solid couch gag parody, Jean says, is that the thing you're playing with is "iconic enough that you can make fun of it, and you know it's going to be around when you animate it a year later."
