A gay teacher at a Pennsylvania Catholic school said he was fired after he applied for a marriage license to wed his long-time partner.
Michael Griffin worked at the Holy Ghost Preparatory School for 12 years teaching French and Italian. He said that although administrators, including the principal, knew he was gay, he never had any major conflict with the Catholic administrators until Friday.
Griffin said he was fired on Friday after he had emailed administrators to tell them he was going to file for a marriage license and would be slightly late to work.
Griffin said the school administrators told him that the email sent on the school email server made his relationship public and therefore they had to fire him if he decided to go through with the marriage.
"He said… 'if you go through with that I have no other choice but to fire you,'" Griffin said of the ultimatum issued by Holy Ghost Preparatory School President Father James McCloskey. "I was in shock, I had no forewarning."
Griffin said McCloskey and other school administrators knew he was gay, but had never brought it up prior. Griffin and his partner had a civil union five years prior and he wears a wedding ring in school.
In a statement sent to ABC News from McCloskey and Holy Ghost Preparatory School, the school president said Griffin was fired for violating the terms of his contract by deciding to marry a partner of the same sex.
"Unfortunately, this decision contradicts the terms of his teaching contract at our school, which requires all faculty and staff to follow the teachings of the Church as a condition of their employment," McCloskey said in the statement. "In discussion with Mr. Griffin, he acknowledged that he was aware of this provision, yet he said that he intended to go ahead with the ceremony. Regretfully, we informed Mr. Griffin that we have no choice but to terminate his contract effective immediately."
Griffin said he has not decided whether he will discuss his termination with a lawyer, but was incredibly saddened by the administrators' actions.
Griffin, who also attended Holy Ghost Preparatory School and was raised Catholic, said he loved teaching at the school. Griffin said he has only heard positive messages from faculty and students.
"There's so much in it that I agree with," Griffin said. "We talk about brotherhood with all of these people. ... I feel like my parents disowned me but my brothers still stand by me."
So,for me gay marriage is a no problem to me but theres quite fight between gay marriage and Catholic School.
It's Too Cold For Me,I Mean U.S
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The National Weather Service says the potential for freezing rain overnight could cause problems for commuters from the Philadelphia area northward to New York City and Boston.
NWS meteorologist Greg Heavener says freezing rain is expected overnight into Monday, following much the same path as Sunday's storm.
That forecast comes after a powerful storm that crept across the country dropped snow, freezing rain and sleet on the Mid-Atlantic region Sunday. The surprisingly strong snowstorm turned NFL playing fields in Pennsylvania into winter wonderlands and dumped a foot of snow in Delaware.
Heavener says the Monday morning commute "in the Philadelphia area and north, to northern New Jersey and New York will likely be disrupted by freezing rain." He said the timing of the storm is still suspect.

EA Halts Future Projects And Trying To Fix BF4
EA's next gen game is broken, and the publisher is taking extraordinary steps to get it fixed.
Players of military shooter Battlefield 4 have reported several big issues with the game, including a bug that applies damage from a single bullet multiple times, killing the player instantly (quickly dubbed the "one-hit kill" by players). As a result, EA has said it will not work on any planned expansions to the game until the core product is running smoothly.
Speaking to IGN, an EA rep said "we know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game - it is absolutely our #1 priority." As a result, Developer DICE is "not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4."
The first of what are expected to be several patches is rolling out today. PS3 owners will see significant updates, while PS4 owners will get a quick fix removing the "one-hit kill" error. Xbox One owners will see an update later this week.
"We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain," EA said. "We will not stop until this is right."
While DICE has stopped future work on expansion packs for now, one piece of downloadable content -- China Rising -- will still come out, since it was in the final stages of development when EA made the decision to focus solely on the core Battlefield 4 issues.
Gamers who aren't playing Battlefield have raised concerns about how this edict will affect other games DICE is currently working on, including the highly-anticipated titles Mirror's Edge 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront, neither of which have been given firm release dates.
In a note to GameSpot, however, the company tried to settle those fears.
"The work being done to stabilize Battlefield 4 does not impact our release schedule for future titles," an EA representative told the site.
The game was widely expected to be among the year’s top hits, but came up a bit short with critics due to a lack of big improvements over Battlefield 3.
Worse yet, Wall Street has taken notice. EA's stock price dipped 6% in trading Thursday in response to the news.Por favor,BF4 and EA.
Sony Resets PSN Passwords Due 'Irregular Activity'
Sony is asking an unspecified number of PlayStation Network customers to change their passwords after finding "irregular activity" in a routine scan of the system.
The company did not disclose how many users were affected, nor what the exact nature of the activity was.
"The Sony Entertainment Network team routinely monitors for any irregular activity, and if such activity is detected, we may sometimes reset passwords of affected accounts to protect consumers and their account information," the company said in a note to affected users. "Your account password was recently reset as part of this process and you will need to create a new password the next time you access your account using the 'Forgot Your Password' option on the Sign in screen."
In resetting the passwords, Sony also cautioned users to "keep a close eye on [their] account for any unusual activity including emails about transactions [they] did not perform."
While any request to reset a password is likely to spark concern among users, Sony is particularly vulnerable to speculation after a massive security breach two-and-a-half years ago saw personal information for over 100 million customer accounts stolen.
In a statement to Joystiq, however, the company said the decision to reset the passwords was not prompted by an attack or known vulnerability to its servers.
The 2011 hacking of the Sony Network was breathtaking in scope and was one of the largest cyber attacks of all time. Three suspects, who were arrested in Spain several months after the attack, were considered to be high-ranking members of the international hacker collective Anonymous.
Since then, the company has recruited former US Homeland Security official Phillip Teitinger to become its Chief Information Security Officer and protect against future attacks.Or Anonymous hack Sony, again?
Most Wanted Gaming
If you're wondering which new game console to get, and you like playing online with others, you might be thinking about which console is more popular, since Microsoft's and Sony's networks aren't compatible. If that's the case, a recent report hints that you should get a PlayStation 4, and that you'll likely be playing "Call of Duty: Ghosts" in multiplayer.
A report from Nielsen shows that more gamers want Sony's PlayStation 4 over Microsoft's Xbox One. Nielsen asked 1,200 "active gamers" about their shopping plans via an online survey. Thirty percent answered PS4, 22 percent answered Xbox One and 10 percent answered Wii U.
When Nielsen asked these gamers what titles they wanted for the new consoles, the most requested was "Call of Duty: Ghosts," leading both the Xbox One and the PS4 top 10 lists and ranking No. 7 on the Wii U's list.
Take that news with a grain of salt, though. Black Friday sales data gathered by research firm InfoScout showed the Xbox One outselling the PS4 two-to-one. However, "Call of Duty: Ghosts" also topped the company's results.
Looking at games that were exclusive to their respective platforms, the choices were unsurprising. A new edition of the "Uncharted" series, of which little is known except its existence announced at the PS4 launch event, led for the PS4 games. A new "Halo" game, similarly a mystery (except for a teaser from Microsoft's Xbox One event in June), led for Xbox One games. And Nintendo's latest "Mario" game, "Super Mario 3D World," topped the Wii U list. All three games are part of critically and financially successful series.
